Pick of the Day 12/30...

Jayne Wyman and Rock Hudson star in the 1955 hormonal dramedy (perhaps that is putting it rather harshly, as the film does carry an immense emotional weight) All That Heaven Allows. The film has spawned two remakes, Fassbinder's 1974 Ali: Fear Eat Soul and Haynes recent film, Far From Heaven. IT is certainly worthy of two remakes. This is a far better film than the other Sirk Criterion disc, (and Dynasty inspiration) Written on the Wind.
