So instead, may I recomend a trashy not-much-older work by Ozon, 8 Women The film, rather like the profiteroles is all in the first 3 minutes, really, before you even enter the house. It is perhaps best appreciated with this supplementary reading.

See, there will always be moments of 8 Femmes that will bring a smile to my face. That picture is fucking brilliant, perhaps not as much as the mechanical deer. One of the reviewers on salon.com called the film "perfumed trash," but she used it as a criticism. I think Ozon might have appreciated that comment.
